Gettin' My Craft On

I had a lot of things I needed to get done today, but I chucked the to-do list and got my craft on instead. Today's projects: felt applique shirts, felt applique onesie with matching crochet hat. The felt applique is addictive. I don't know if I can stop. I might have to start going to craft fairs and selling this stuff. My kids will only wear so much.

I put the boy robots on thrifted short sleave button down shirts. How can you complain about getting dressed for church when there's a robot on your shirt? Paul came up with "Mobot" and the rest followed

Pheobe's is on a thrifted blue v-neck.

Some friends from church are in the process of adopting a baby, who should be born any day now. I made the ice cream cone onesie and matching hat for baby Zoey. (I don't know if that's how they'll spell it--Zoe?) I hope she has a really big head, because while the hat and onsie are meant to coordinate, it looks like when the onsie fits the hat will be ginormous. I guess I didn't check my gauge when crocheting. Her mom said, "What, no Zobot?" Darnit! I can't believe I din't think of that! Now, I have another project to do....

the felt appliques are fabulous...do you just sew them on, or do you use some type of adhesive first (like with typical applique)? that is too cute. esp. the onesie. have you ever bought white tshirts (and more) from dharma trading co? i highly recommend...they get cheaper the more you buy, and pretty good quality, wash & wear well, etc. cute little knit sundresses for girls and tank tops, etc. dharmatradingco.com is their site. How was the beach? Thought of you all week and hope it went well, that the kids had fun, etc. Love, Mel

hey, mel! i used a fusible interfacing. the felt is great because it doesn't fray so you don't have to worry about the edges. I just put the interfacing on the back of a whole 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of felt, cut out the shapes, iron them on the shirt and then stictch around. thanks for the tip on dharma trading--i'll check them out.

the beach was fantastic! thanks for asking. i'll post pics soon.

love you!
